NMWWA SE SECTION

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD BY-LAWS

 

  • QUALIFIED APPLICANT: must be an immediate family member, such as a spouse or a child, step-child, including adopted, of an active member of the SE Section of the NMWWA, or it can also be the member himself or herself. Consideration of the Scholarship Award amount will be dependent upon the amount of participation in the Association.

 

  • ONE TIME AWARD PER APPLICANT: the Scholarship Award will be given to a chosen applicant only once. That applicant may not apply again for another Scholarship award. There may be multiple Scholarship Awards per family, but not multiple awards per applicant.

 

  • FULL TIME STATUS: Applicants of the NMWWA SE Section Scholarship must maintain full-time student status and carrying a minimum course work load of 12 credit hours for the semester.

 

  • G.P.A.: a grade point average of 2.5 will have to be maintained for the award to be renewed for the next semester. Recipients of scholarships are required to provide proof of G.P.A. prior to receipt of second term scholarship.

 

  • FIELD OF STUDY: the field of study must be in the Environmental Studies. This would include Biology, Chemistry, Engineering and any other areas directly or indirectly associated with the Water and Wastewater industry.

 

  • APPLICANT NOT IN FIELD OF STUDY: if none of the applicants are in the field of study set forth above in By-law number 5, then any remaining applicants will have a chance at receiving a smaller award. Amount to be determined by the available monies in the Scholarship Fund. The remaining monies will be carried over for the following year’s Award.

 

  • APPLICATION DEADLINES: Applications for the NMWWA SE Section Scholarship will be received for a minimum of thirty (30) days or as determined by the Scholarship Committee. It is Applicants’ responsibility to provide a completed application for review prior to closing date. Applications received after closing date will not be considered. Scholarship applications should be mailed or faxed to the presiding SE Section President and Secretary for documentation of receipt and distribution to the Scholarship Committee. Application deadlines will be June 30th with checks to be sent out no later than September 1 and January 1.

 

  • SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE: Four (4) members of the NMWWA SE Section will be selected to form the Scholarship Committee. A Chairman of the Committee will be selected by the President. For continuity purposes, all Committee members should be committed to attend at least 50% of the meetings and step down if unable to meet this commitment.
